A Nurse and Professor
Friends, we are looking for a nurse and a professor to come and minister here in our community. In our last post we mentioned giving to help people pay for medical treatment, and how many in our community have to fly across the country for medical issues. In truth, medical needs are huge here, and some of the poorest receive limited care. Once we found a boy that had been pulled out of the water at a local pool and he was moving in and out of consciousness and throwing up. I

What YOU are giving towards
Over the course of our first term overseas we steadily settled into our community and found ourselves seeing needs around us in the community. We wrestled over which of those needs were needs we should strive to meet or if our involvement would cause dependence. Now that we’ve settled into some areas and ways of giving, it’s an odd predicament to feel that we should give quietly, as Jesus taught in the New Testament, and yet to realize that the money we give away is not ours
Help when we are ALL sick
Recently we were sick, ALL of us! Isaac was sick with one thing after another for two and a half, and the family joined him with the stomach bug (or food poisoning?) and then a virus that really knocked us all out. We spent the better part of several days with all five of us laying in bed, struggling to gather the strength to get up and cook and eat something.
